Reflection
New Year's Eve! i went out pretty early with my two aunts and my cousin, and half an hour before we came home, i started having a deadly headache, and i still have it, it's been about 5hours...so here's my reflection of the past year...i have more stuff to write about, but this headache is killing me that i can't think straight, so i'm just gonna post what i have.
Family
Fall of 2010 marked the one-year anniversary of my parents having an empty nest. It’s interesting to see how things have changed and how things have stayed the same. My parents have become so much more loving than before. I think now that they only have each other, they’re much more appreciative of each other. Their love is even more evident than before, and dumb arguments no longer exist. Praise the Lord. My brother and I got especially close this year. Maybe it’s because we’re finally at an age where we can have an adult conversation. Or maybe it’s because we’re able to talk about spiritual topics now. Maybe it’s all of the above. Regardless of the reason, I’m super thankful that the gap between us is no longer as wide as it was before. Moreover, I didn’t think this was possible, but I adore my brother even more. When we reunited as a family during Thanksgiving, I saw that my brother has grown so much mentally and spiritually, I saw that he was humbling himself to be molded by God, and I saw that he was letting go and letting God. I love him and I’m so thankful that he’s my older brother. In the end, the unity and love our family was repeatedly displayed this year, and if it wasn’t for our Lord, it would not be so.
Friends
"Without friends no one would choose to live, though he had all other goods.” – Aristotle.
Many acquaintances this year have cultivated into deep, meaningful friendships. Through the love of God, I gained amazing sisters in the W.O.G. group, I bonded with Carson towards the end of the year, and of course, the Korean Boys are the joy of my life. This year, a few people deserve an honorable mention, and I’ll try to keep them short. The very first person that deserves this honorable mention is Jessie Yunus! The very beginning of this year, she and I hung out quite a bit, and as the year progressed we became really good friends. This girl is amazing, she never ceases to make me laugh, and I am so proud to see how much she has grown spiritually. Next, I want to give a HUGE shout out to JUSTIN KIM! He and I also got closer during interim. From then on, Justin became my mother and I’m so thankful to have a Korean mother like him. Justin’s been there for me through so many things, and if it weren’t for him, Calvin would be so much less fun. Next, Enoch Chan deserves an honorable mention. I don’t know when it was that we stopped hating and started becoming friends. Hallelujah it stopped though, because this friendship is really such a blessing from God. Last but definitely not least, my lover Karen Ai. I met her in 2008, we got to know each other better in 2009, but in 2010, our relationship skyrocketed. We’re two peas in a pod. Thank the Lord for her – her silliness, her weirdness, and her love for God. These friendships are the ones that grew in 2010, but old, unbreakable bonds between the long life friends in Tucson are still something I thank the Almighty for.
i'm done, this headache is killing me, i don't even know if i'll be able to stay up till midnight for the new year...rawr!
