Lessons
Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart from what breaks yours
Everything I am for your kingdoms cause
As I go from nothing to eternity
So, this weekend happened something that I think affected me more than I thought it would. Well, I mean, it really didn't affect me at first, because I didn't think it was a big deal, but apparently it was a bigger deal to someone else. Anyways, the few things I learned this weekend (how ironic that the first week of school, everything i learned was outside of school....haha)
1) my family's really united, some might disagree from what they've seen, but we really are. my family's so supportive. also, when I was younger, I never thought I would really be able to talk to my brother. but this summer, during his move/transition to Texas, we've talked a lot more - and not just random crap, like serious stuff. hahaha. so this time, when I couldn't get a hold of my parents, the first person I wanted to call was him, it used to be my close friends, but this time: it was him. and i'm really glad i called him, he's gotten so much more wise, he did not get super angry as i kinda expected...hahaha i love my family! [and a shout out to my beautiful cousin: your wise saying of "don't listen to ugly people" resounded in my head...hahaha <3]
2) "love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (matthew 5:44) is SO much harder than you really think it is. that's all i'll say about that. also, God'll never give you something you can't handle.
3) glorifying God is when you do your best. cause that's when God looks down and says, "hey! YOU did a good job. I'M proud of you." on that note, God kept reminding me this weekend that I'M HIS. :)
4) as Calvin is doing a campus-wide bible study on philippians, we've been REALLY focusing on: "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6) I dunno, i just like it. hahaha
p.s. calvin did a chinese song in chapel on monday! leading worship for (for the first time) friday and sunday chapel!
